Inside Thoughts

Real Talk – Never Say Never?

Never Say Never?

The older I get the more I am realising the danger of saying NEVER.

The amount of times I have blurted out, “I will ‘Never’ do that again,” and find myself a couple of years down the track doing what I thought I would never do again is becoming stupid.

I don’t necessarily think this is wrong. We all develop and grow. In life we learn the importance of balance, and the danger of being extreme. And in many cases to never say never.

Here Are Some Things Which I Said I Would NEVER Do Again.

I said I would never eat meat, or animal products again.

Here I am 3 years later, enjoying chicken, fish, and whole dairy and loving it! I am eating some cheese right now as I type.

I said that I would never be a pastor’s wife or involved in church.

Look how that turned out… Enough said.

I said I would never waste money renting.

I was 13 at the time and terribly idealistic and painfully earnest. 34 and still renting.

I said I would never move back to Brisbane again.

Oh yes and here I am, back in Brisbane, eating my words and loving my city more than I dreamt possible.

We can never tell the end from the beginning. Now everytime I say ‘never’ with vehemence I catch myself. For you can never can predict with complete accuracy the way the future will unfold.

And you know, although often unexpected the way that things work out, they are usually so much more glorious than the plan we manufactured on our own.

I am wondering my beloveds.

What have you said you would ‘never’ do that you surprised yourself doing all over again?

Put your comments below. I would love to hear.

You are deeply loved and richly cherished.

Wink: Oh I also have said I would never marry a ‘white’ man. I grew up envisioning myself with a mix between Usher and ‘The Rock.’ Things didn’t quite turn out the way I planned. But my goodness, my Greenie is so much better than the big black Jamole I was dreaming up in my 13 year old mind.
