Dean Karnazes Is Running For Good. Lessons On Longevity & Embracing Discomfort.

This podcast was the most inspiring podcast I have listened to in a long time. Here is a little blurb about Dean Karnazes:

“IME magazine named Dean Karnazes as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in the World.” Men’s Fitness hailed him as one of the fittest men on the planet. An internationally recognized endurance athlete and NY Times bestselling author, Dean has pushed his body and mind to inconceivable limits. Among his many accomplishments, he has run 350 continuous miles, foregoing sleep for three nights. He’s run across Death Valley in 120 degree temperatures, and he’s run a marathon to the South Pole in negative 40 degrees. On ten different occasions, he’s run a 200-mile relay race solo, racing alongside teams of twelve. His most recent Endeavor was running 50 marathons, in all 50 US states, in 50 consecutive days, finishing with the NYC Marathon, which he ran in three hours flat.”Dean Karnazes Bio.

I don’t know about you but I am VERY interested in what a man like Dean has to say. This podcast was incredibly inspiring.

So my husband has just spent nearly two weeks in America. It goes without saying that he is not any skinnier for it. I am trying some salads that I hope he will actually enjoy and look forward to eating. This chicken Avocado Caprese salad, such an incredibly sexy salad. And he LOVES it. No more burritos or burgers for a while Greenie boy. And this cauliflower fried rice is a dish even Greenie devoured  (you can sub the bacon for prawns or tofu if you like).

Chrissy Teigen, I love this girl! She is such a boss. I only just discovered her!  Supermodel turned Martha Stewart. And she is so down to earth and fun! I think she has such a healthy take on body image, she’s comfortable in her own skin and is actually really quite funny! Plus she is married to John Legend who is actually also a real life legend. I am loving her recipes and her videos.

“There is no drive-through Breakthrough” Larry Sparks

I don’t know about you, but some prayers are taking a long time to be answered. There are some things in my life that I wish I didn’t have to walk through. But I am learning to persevere, have faith, steward my mind on the positive, declare my prophetic words and have faith not in what I see, but what I believe will happen. I know this is building integrity and character. And ‘breakthrough will come.’ The character built in the process is sometimes as important as the breakthrough itself.

Trudi on 5 compelling reasons to stop sugar:

“Such a good point about focusing on what you CAN eat rather than what you CAN’T! Love that. Sugar is so bloody addictive, ugh. I have been wanting to get more serious about this area for a while so Thank You! I shall start the weaning process 😀”

Christine On 4 Ways Kindness to strangers:

“There is a nurse at the family practice I go to that was wearing the most amazing lip colour one day and it suited her perfectly. I told her so and now every time I go back she is wearing it and I get to admire her over and over.”

That’s it from me beloveds

Make sure you try that chicken caprese salad this week. Mind-blowing and good enough to make for guests!

Have an incredible week and know you are DEEPLY loved and richly cherished.

Has anyone noticed that some people buy the weirdest combination of things at Aldi’s. One man came out with ice blocks and toilet paper. Another person? Came out with just lamb shanks. A young guy in a high-vis work shirt came out with a huge box of party pies. Seriously? So bizarre. Are they better at Aldi’s? Or were they just driving past and felt like pies? And did they really not want anything else?

I can never just buy one thing at the shops, going in triggers an automatic reminder of all the things I need to get and I walk out with everything except the one thing I needed to get in the first place.

P.S Did you catch last week’s four fun things.

I love Dean! I’ll have to check out that podcast. One of my all time favourite quotes is one of his. He said, ‘Somewhere along the line we seem to have confused comfort with happiness.’ Quite profound and I think of it often.
