Highlights – A Podcast, An interesting Documentary, A Recipe, & A Quote.

Beloved ones! How has your week been? 

Coronavirus certainly is making an impact.

People are doing what they feel they need to in order to feel safe. That is fine. But the most important thing is to make sure we are praying! Prayer is Powerful. Let us pray for our leaders and medical experts as they make crucial decisions with how to best address what is becoming one of the biggest health crisis’ we have seen in a long time. In the meantime, beloved, be sensible, and stay informed from the right sources.  Do not give in to fear or pandemonium! And most of all:

Pray! It truly does make a difference. 

In other news! Here are some highlights from my week.


  • 1 – Podcast

How to End Mental Illness with Dr Daniel Amen

From the Doctor’s Farmacy Podcast 

What a fascinating podcast. Dr Daniel Amen puts a whole different spin on the term mental health and is paving the way for a new type of psychiatry, looking at the actual brain, using an integrative approach to prevent disease and successfully treat it. I loved his perspective. If you have an interest in mental health, have experienced it or work in it, I would HIGHLY encourage you to listen. 


  • 2 – Documentary

The Kingmaker.

This is an extraordinary documentary looking into the political career and life of Imelda Marcos, who was a powerful and beautiful female leader whose questionable sense of reality divided a nation. My mum is from the Philippines and lived there while the Marcos were in rule, so my whole family loved this documentary. And it was so well done. Among other awards, it was nominated as best documentary at the London Film Festival and the Stockholm Film Festival and the checkpoints award at the Bergen International Film Festival. Plus, it was nominated for four categories in the 2019 critic’s choice documentary awards. Even if you are not Filipino, I think if you like history, and people’s stories, you would love this. I found it mesmerising.  


  • 3 – Recipe

Lamb Kofta

Mark and I discovered lamb koftas this week. So delicious. You can make a whole heap up and eat them for lunch. I kid you not, Mark has been eating lamb kofta wraps for lunch and dinner all week. We stuffed our wraps with feta, hummus, coriander and the lamb koftas, rolled it up in a big wrap and obviously Mark was in heaven. Here is the recipe for the Lamb Kofta. I even put pomegranate in our wraps! AMAZING. I used whole wheat wraps, but Greenie prefers the white burrito wraps. (still working on changing his taste buds, he is the youngest child). 


  • 4 – Quote by David Balestri

In his Interview for the Own Your Health Series, David said:

“The issue that you are struggling to find the time is the biggest indication that you need to find or make time. We, unfortunately, have created cluttered lives and the first step would be what can I let go off or stop doing to create space to begin to. Build a stronger life.”

Yep, that’s My mentor right there. Full of endless wisdom and so much fun at the same time…

Own Your Health, Changing the way you Think, Eat and Live


Wink: We were at Garden City and there was a HUGE line-up. I didn’t want to miss out! So I too lined up, Greenie in tow. Turns out we were lying up for Cinnabon… We had no idea what it was so were googling on our phone. Turns out it is famous in America!

The smells were out of this world! After 10 minutes, Mark and I lost our stamina and bailed. Some people were lining up for two hours! Seriously! I will wait till the hype dies down and then I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this sugary, buttery, cinnamon-spiced roll. Just once. Once I have experienced it once I will avoid it for life (unless it is amazing, then no doubt we too will become crazed fans who line up for hours on end for some pastry rolled in sugar, baked in fat and sprinkled with cinnamon).
